Aeropostale (NYSE:ARO), Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF), American Eagle (NYSE:AEO) Stopping Monthly Reporting

Aeropostale (NYSE:ARO), Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF) and American Eagle (NYSE:AEO) announced they will no longer be reporting on a monthly basis, citing the focus centering on short-term results rather than long-term.

They specifically noted that they won't be reporting on sales and same-store sales for stores opened longer than a year.

A number of analysts said the fact that the three retailers are taking these steps at the same time will make it easier to follow them.

This is a good move, as the additional noise from the reports tends to cause the share price of companies to fluctuate in the near term, especially for companies that have been around for some time.

Aeropostale was trading at $23.68, down $0.31, or 1.29 percent, as of 12:08 PM EST. Abercrombie & Fitch was at $49.48, falling $1.25, or 2.46 percent. American Eagle was trading at $14.49, dropping $0.18, or 1.23 percent.
