We're going to look briefly at the general and overall performance of a number of gold companies today, and the first grouping includes Kinross (NYSE:KGC), Harmony Gold Mining (NYSE:HMY), AngloGold Ashanti (NYSE:AU) and Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX).
All four of the companies listed above ended the last trading day of the year in the positive, as gold prices ended 2010 with a bang, as spot gold finished over $1,420.
Kinross Gold ended the year at $18.96, gaining $0.15 on December 31, up $0.80 percent. The company had a 52-week trading range of $14.84 to $21.12. They ended the year with a market cap of $21.45 billion.
Barrick Gold closed the year out at $53.18, gaining $0.58 on the last trading day, up 1.10 percent. The trading range for 2010 was from $33.65 to $55.75. They ended the year with a market cap of $52.45 billion.
Harmony Gold finished off the year at $12.54, rising $0.16 on Friday, a gain of 1.29 percent. The 2010 trading range for them was $8.73 to $12.96. They closed off the year with a market cap of $5.38 billion.
AngloGold Ashanti (NYSE:AU) ended 2010 at $49.23, gaining $0.46 on the final trading day of the year, up 0.94 percent. Their range for the year was $34.11 to $49.47, reaching the top end of the range on December 31. Their market cap heading into 2011 is $18.14 billion.
