Citing a survey confirming wireless capex trends are expected to continue, Canaccord raised their PT and EPS estimates on Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ:PWAV).
Canaccord says, "We believe Powerwave is well positioned for solid 2011 sales and earnings growth, as our carrier CAPEX survey indicated solid wireless CAPEX trends in 2011 driven by new 4G network builds in North America and 3G builds in developing markets such as India. Further, our survey indicated strong capacity and coverage spending plans.
"Based on a solid pipeline of opportunities and improving profitability, we are increasing our 2011 pro forma EPS estimate to $0.21 from $0.19 and introducing our 2012 estimate of $0.27."
Canaccord Genuity reiterates a "Hold" rating on Powerwave Technologies (PWAV), which closed Monday at $3.53, down $0.03, or 0.84 percent. Canaccord increased their price target on Powerwave from $2.25 to $3.75.

Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ:PWAV) Backdrop Improving Says Barclays
Several initiatives from Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ:PWAV) has them positioned for probable healthy growth in 2011.
Barclays said, "Positive commentary out of competitor CommScope as well as the completion of recent initiatives to tighten its balance sheet suggests an improving backdrop for Powerwave. Our own checks suggest in-line near-term trends while a number of initiatives such as LTE builds, improving vertical market opportunities, as well as Sprint's (NYSE:S) desire to consolidate its network provide a fertile backdrop for growth in 2011.
"We believe several initiatives point to the potential for a healthy growth in 2011. We expect momentum around LTE builds to pick up, Powerwave's initiatives in vertical markets (i.e. government) should begin to bear some fruit, and Sprint's desire to consolidate its network technologies could provide incremental opportunities in the back half of the year."
Barclays maintains an "Equalweight" rating on Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ:PWAV), which closed Wednesday at $3.20, gaining $3.21, or 7.02 percent. Barclays has a price target of $2 on them.

Powerwave (NASDAQ:PWAV) Beneficiary of Sprint (NYSE:S) Network Plan
The unveiling and implementation of Sprint's (NYSE:S) multi-year network plan should be a boost for Powerwave Technologies (NASDAQ:PWAV) in the long term, according to Barclays (NYSE:BCS).
Barclays said, "Though we anticipate limited near-term benefits, Sprint's (NYSE:S) multi-year network plan is a positive for Powerwave as opportunities should emerge in providing necessary antenna and radio gear to help the carrier consolidate its network technologies. Though questions remain on timing, initial checks suggest possible equipment procurement beginning in 2H11 suggesting a favorable longer-term opportunity."
